Shooting The Screen

Is there some interesting freeware around for making screenshots in Vista?

Quite likely, but you don't need it because Vista itself contains a program to make screenshots.

Click the Start button and then navigate via All Programs to Accessories, and you'll find 'Snipping Tool' there. Click the program, and choose what you want to snip by clicking the arrow next to the 'New' button:
  • Free-form
  • Rectangular (any area of your desktop)
  • Window (one particular window)
  • Full-screen (the entire desktop)

Once you snipped something, you can copy the snip to the clipboard, save it as a jpg file (or in several other formats), or send it via mail.

Snappy.
