Google Play Alternative

I purchased a tablet from a Chinese eBay shop, but it doesn’t seem to contain Google Play. I’ve looked around and don’t really want to root the tablet or mess about with custom ROMs. I’ve examined alternative solutions, but they all seem to require access to Google Play, which is a catch-22. Is there an alternative that can be used ‘as is’?

There is indeed:

While from time to time you may not be able to find an app on appitalism of which you know it exists in Google Play, their offering is impressive. Furthermore, if you run into that situation, you could always search appitalism for alternative apps and you’re likely to find them.

When you find an app you want to download, the ‘app concierge’ window pops up and asks you what you want to do. The easiest option seems to be to have app concierge mail the app’s link to you. In your email program, just click the link in the message that you’ve been sent and choose to install the app – job done.
